It pays to choose your wedding photographer carefully — because after all, if you don't get along well with your photographer it will show in your photographs. So what's the best way to find your perfect match? Start by choosing 2 or 3 photography studios whose work you have seen and liked, and consider the following:
Some questions to ask your photographer before you book
How many weddings have they photographed?
What style of photography do they love most? ie. candid, formal/traditional, photo-journalistic, romantic
Will they be the person who will be photographing on the day?
Do they work with an assistant photographer?
Do they bring backup photographic equipment on the day?
Do they work with digital cameras, and if so will you receive a DVD of low resolution or high resolution images after the wedding?
Are they able to digitally retouch some of the wedding images, or apply special effects, and if so what is the cost for doing so?
How can you achieve a great photographic wedding album?
What is the turnaround time to receive your wedding album?
Do they have a price list for reprints?
Are they a member of the AIPP? (Australian Institute of Professional Photography)
How much do they charge and what are their payment terms?
Do they have a booking agreement or contract, and can you see it prior to booking?
What are their cancellation or ‘change of date’ costs?
