Kristy and Luke’s relationship progressed until a spectacular marriage proposal took place in 2010. The pair had travelled to Hamilton Island for Kristy’s birthday and after a helicopter trip to Whitehaven Beach, Luke dropped onto one knee on the beach and proposed. Fortunately Kristy was able to say yes, while wiping away tears of happiness.
Kristy and Luke’s ceremony was was held on the 15th October, 2011 at Altona Gardens at Spreyton. Their reception followed at the Waterfront Function Centre in Devonport. Photography was very important to the couple, and they were able to use Avro Park Orchard for their wedding photos. They both loved the Italian-style mansion and the rows of apple trees.
Kristy and Luke spent a ten night honeymoon in Phuket, which they felt wasn’t long enough. ‘We could have spent a whole month there’, said Kristy. After hiring a Jeep Wrangler in order to do some sightseeing, the pair were pulled over by a member of the local police. After being advised by the hire company that no special licence was required, they were abruptly advised by the police officer that this was not the case and they received a fine. ‘The fine worked out to be the equivalent of $13 Australian dollars, (although I thought he was going to throw us in the klink!)’, said Kristy.
Kristy’s advice to others who are planning their wedding — ‘girls, make sure you are 100% happy with the dress you choose and look around for a long time before settling on one, as you will see so many other nice ones after you purchase yours. This actually happened to me and I ended up buying a second dress. Oh, and a really good photographer is so important as you forget so much about the special day. It’s nice to view all of the images afterwards…’
