Real Life Wedding: Cassie and Jarrod

Cassie and Jarrod’s marriage proposal took place at their home after Cassie had finished work. Jarrod asked Cassie to marry him over tea. At first Cassie wasn’t quite sure if he was joking, so she simply said yes and then went to the cinema with a friend! Cassie didn’t realise that Jarrod was serious until the next day, when the pair told their families the good news and Jarrod chose the ring.

Their wedding ceremony was held under a large mossy tree in a clearing in the Hollybank Forest, near Underwood, Tasmania.

The wedding had a vintage/forest theme where all of the guests dressed in vintage-inspired outfits. ‘It was so exciting to see the effort everybody had gone to just for us’, said Cassie. ‘It rained in the hours before the ceremony, and the sun came out just as the bridal party arrived in Morris Minors. It was magical, because the forest and moss were glistening and made for stunning photos.’ The highlights for Cassie were ‘walking down the aisle in front of everyone I love, with my beautiful dad, and seeing Jarrod at the other end of the forest waiting, which was an amazing feeling’.

Cassie and Jarrod’s wedding reception was held at the Cataract Bistro in Launceston. There were 140 guests spread over 3 large long tables. The whole venue was decorated in the vintage lace theme but with table runners made out of real moss — to connect the two venues. Although the pair had initially thought rain would be an issue, their photos benefited from the overcast sky, the forest looked breathtaking, and they were too happy to notice if anything had gone wrong!

As a teacher Cassie was unable to take much time off for their honeymoon, but as neither of them had been out of Australia before they left three days after their wedding to visit Bali, Indonesia for a week. ‘It was a beautiful place to get away and unwind after such a busy and amazing week’, said Cassie.

Cassie’s advice for others who are currently planning a wedding — ‘make sure you style the wedding the way you want to do it, but don’t be afraid to invest in some help with setting things up on the day, as you need the day before the wedding to relax with your bridal party and get excited! When it comes to the budget – expect to go over, because you will’.
