Having provided a match-making service for the two couples, Samantha and Ian were groomsman and bridesmaid at both weddings, before finally walking down the aisle themselves on the 19th February, 2011!
A ceremony and reception for approximately 70 guests was held at Strathlynn, northern Tasmania. The ceremony was relaxed and full of laughter. The couple said their own vows from memory and had 3 readings including a poem about an old sideboard, and a story about dinosaurs!
Although Ian was born in Hobart, Samantha was born in England, so guests were given mini bottles of Pimms, with the couple’s names and their wedding date on the labels along with their favourite Pimms recipe on the back! There was also a Pimms bar at the wedding.
The only hitch on the day was the weather. There was some rain during the day, but it didn't dampen spirits, and the couple pressed ahead with their ceremony on the deck, sheltering guests with lots of large white patio umbrellas from Weeding Hire (Launceston).
The colour theme for the wedding was dove grey with purple accents which were reflected in the dresses, waistcoats and ties. Other decor highlights included hand-painted wooden white table numbers and hand-written chalkboards for the menu and seating plan. The pair also stamped each place card individually with vintage alphabet letter stamps and they dotted candles around their venue in jars tied with rustic grey twine. They also had retro grey and white striped paper straws for the Pimms bar and confetti cannons filled with rose petals were set off at the end of the ceremony.
